I mean, they were completely capable of sucking live when things just didn't come together, and sure, they weren't great vocalists, but when they were spot on, there were moments of pure inspiration.

Yeah, I had a roommate last year who was obssessed with GD and Phish, and his favorite thing to do was listen to different concerts they played at. Hearing the same song 7 times a day with simply a different jam in the middle killed GD for me.

I'm by no means a jam band junkie...I don't particularly care for Phish. I like Moe and Govt Mule tho.

It was psychological treatment, I didn't like him, or being put in headlocks after pulling allnighters by a kid who hadn't showered in a week, so I associate those memories with the obscene amount of jam band tunes I had to stomach for 2 semesters.

i am with osmose on this because a roomate of mine ruined many bands for me. for instance i can never take jay z seriously now. not that i normally would of course.

I think Warren Haynes of Govt Mule is an amazingly versatile guitarist. their recent DVD is a tour de force smorgasbord...worth the purchase simply to watch him play with Les Claypool.
