Covers suggestions to the band.

I can't think of any song for OL to cover... I like OL's music and I'd rather hear them creating orignal stuff of their own than covering any other bands ;)

But hmm... it would be interesting to hear a metal version of Ofra Haza's Im Nin'Alu, where instruments and guitars are preformed by Orphaned Land and vocals preformed by Shlomit Levi.

Messiakh, I would love to hear a metal version of Im Nin'Alu with Shlomit Levi :D
Especially after her renditions of A'salk & Zur Menati, which was performed by the late Ofra Haza too.

@ Dreamcell & Postmodernist

No wonder I found similarities in Flamenco and a bit of Middle-eastern music [including music from Morroco]. Now it fits into place :D

P.S.
Could you'll mention your names? I find it odd referring to Usernames

I'm fine with being called Postmodernist. My name is a very trivial Greek Christian one - Anton, however I'm not Greek and I'm not Christian :)

Mind telling us a little about yourself? :D

As for myself my name is Mahmoud
Can be also spelled Mahmood or Mahmud or even Machmoud, but again like Postmodernist, you can call me Messiakh or whatever you prefer.

I would love to hear an Orphaned Land rendition of 'Qawwali' music, that is the music of the Sufi mystics.

http://www.imeem.com/yechuri/music/jqGDCgbB/nusrat-fateh-ali-khan-piya-re-piya-reoriginal/

This is a song by the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan called ' Piya Re ' , who had performed with artists such as Eddie Vedder and Alanis Morissette.

The version below is a remix which gives out a very Indian vibe [ a bit filmi complete with a cheesy video]. The 'Morsing' or the South Indian equivalent of the Jew's harp is used, along with Carnatic flute and violin. I like this version too.

It just makes me laughing !

Oi gevalt! oi vismir! I thought it was Yannick singing at first :lol:
His dad told me stories about this Mike dude- like he didn't know how to speak a word of French, but learnt to sing it from hearing it.
So Kobi- there is no way getting out of singing this :)

As for a cover song? I already got my wish when Orphaned Land did a Dutch song for their ProgPower show overhere. They took this cheesy pop song I suggested them and turned in into something completely different. The audience went nuts and crazy hearing an Israeli metal band performing this in Dutch for them.( it was ' een eigen huis' by Rene Froger- for the statistics freaks)
And my friends couldn't believe the guys didn't speak Dutch cause Kobi and Eden sang with almost no foreign accent. It's because we have the weird guttural 'g' in common with the Hebrew language I guess.

EEN VERS KOPJE THEE!!!!! <<<< to Kobi

*the statistics freak is here updating his DB with "een eigen huis"*
@Ananth: Oh yeah, I also like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. A very peaceful and charismatic fellow.

I know Orphaned Land will never come to my beloved Kyrgyzstan, because that would be completely non-profitable (not many people likely to come, maximum about half thousand metal-heads, if promoted well, and people cannot pay much for the tickets 'cause of very low salaries). Still, the following song is very symbolic to Kyrgyzstan:

This is what I thought 13 years ago when I wanted to make Orphaned Land play in France. We tried hard with my friends of Holy Records to find a solution, but it was "non-profitable". Then more than 10 years after, Orphaned Land came for a tour, then a special unique show in France... Over time things are changing, always...

With Orphaned Land, never say never!!!

a cover of Queen's 'Innuendo' with hebrew lyrics would be phantastic!

My prediction is that OL will cover the following song on ORwarriOR:
Turkish, Moroccan, Spanish and Portguese versions of "El Norra Alila" ;)
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lUUFNVXNmM&feature=related[/ame]
It's breathtakingly beautiful, sad yet hopegiving, a ready doom metal piece ;) Moroccan version is my favorite.

PS: Also take a look at this video:

("Takasim" from OL's "El Norra Alila" origins and translation)

A peaceful and light-giving Kaballah prayer. I think it would perfectly Orphaned Land's light acoustic shows "In White Robes", along with Orphaned's Medley etc.

Plying with world, destroying it
children the sun drived already old

Isn't my fault if your reality
oblige me to make war against the conspiracy of silence.
Maybe one day will know what does it mean to drain in blood with humanity.

People without colors, almost everybody looks the same
reads my rage on newspapers.
Reads all my pain in history
sings my people that wouldn't die.

When you stare at the world, without any problem
Search the essence of thinks.
Isn't my fault if your reality
oblige me to make war against humanity

Area was without any doubt one of the most incredible prog band.

Would be nice if Orphaned Land covered this famous (originally Greek traditional!) masterpiece,

Mirslou (this is the fullest version, just ignore the Guitar Hero video):

One of the most authentic versions I found:

That's a great "energizer" for concerts in Greece, in Turkey and anywhere else ;)
