Cradle Of Filth Lays Down the Gauntlet Again

There's definitely metal all over the place in Motörhead, and songs that are completely metal, but then there are songs which aren't really metal at all... I realize that without Motörhead = no thrash (more or less) and all that but still... 100% pure metal, not really. Sixty times more fucking metal than Cradle of Filth and Slipknot combined can ever dream of being, yes.

Okay, so they're guilty of a couple lapses into punk, but we're not talking PUNK RAWK D00D ANARCHY 4EVAH here–we're talking what Overkill played before they really learned how to play their instruments. So basically that's what Motörhead considers branching out, and they are for all intents and purposes, a metal band.

I'm more pissed about Killswitch Engage, who are THE WORST BAND EVER, getting nominated for a metal Grammy. I didn't think the Grammies could manage to affect me at this point, but they keep coming up with new ways to get on my nerves.

Haha, did you hear about how Fenriz was deeply disappointed in Darkthrone's "Sardonic Wrath" being nominated for the Norwegian grammies, and calling the organizers to have them get the nomination removed? I hope he succeeds. Fenriz is what you Americans would call THE FUCKING MAN

Hahahaha, that reminds me of a story. Morrigan at Metal-Archives got an email from Akhenaten, asking that we remove all info on Judas Iscariot from the page.

"Please immediately delete everything on this page. I absolutely do not want any presence of Judas Iscariot or my other bands on the Internet!!! Although I appreciate that people support their favorite music, I personally do not want any presence of myself or any of my musical projects on the Internet. "

We checked the e-mail, and it was indeed Andrew Harris. We ignored him, and now Judas Iscariot has been reduced to a running gag.

Oh, that was what sparked the "Kvlt Kiddies" notice? Haha. Uh, Judas Iscariot... Well, at least he's dedicated... only to the wrong things.

But Darkthrone has no fucking business being nominated for the Grammy awards.

Well, we also got a notice of the like from...uh...Shadow0fDeath. Also one or two others from similar grim and frostbitten acne-maps, but with less interweb infamy than that particular rugrat.

I'd welcome Darkthrone getting nominated for an American Grammy. The firestorm would be BEAUTIFUL. But yeah, a raw black metal band getting put up for an award that basically rewards album sales and popular acclaim is one of the all-time big "WTF?" moments.

I like how every time I reply to this thread and return to the thread index, you have invariably replied to the other thread, etc, and so forth.

Hah, but anyway, I must say Fenriz' efforts to stay underground are commendable. Somehow he manages to be probably one of the best-selling real black metal bands and still be true as FUCK to his cause. If someone ever called Darkthrone sellouts I would point at them and laugh, at the very least

Yeah, I was noticing that too. I call it being in the zone–Nico and I used to do it all the time on Nevermore. I made another thread in the meantime just in case.

Darkthrone's tr00ness is unquestionable, but I really can't get into them musically. Meh.

Recommend me some Graveland. The rest of the UM Inquisition, who are basically synonymous with good taste around here, all seem to like them.

Hm, did you try "Sardonic Wrath"? Try downloading the song "God of Doubt," that intro riff is just total bang your head against the stage as if up from the dead like you never did before 'til you fall on the floor material... I could imagine you probably liking the last couple of albums a bunch, seeing as they're basically Motörhead goes black metal. Personally, I prefer "Transylvanian Hunger" but meh, Darkthrone never really released a weak record.

Graveland. The new one, "Dawn of Iron Blades" is cool. Try the songs "Crown Heroic My Departure" and "Iron in the Fog". Other than the last two which are a bit more polished than the old stuff but really cool, the SRP fanboy favourite is "Thousand Swords" which is a good one, epic as all fuck. "Following the Voice of Blood" is in the same vein. The early, pre-"Thousand Swords" stuff is raw BM which isn't all that interesting if you ask me. Wait with getting that. "Immortal Pride" is like Bathory's "Hammerheart" drawn out to ungodly lengths (20+ minute songs) except with Darken's croaking vocals. Well, I'm rambling, but to sum up, the last two albums are great starting points.
