Obviously this has been here a while...sorry I'm so late in posting but I fucking LOVE Crowbar. Seriously in my top ten favorite bands ever. I'd say you should first pick up Sludge: The History of Crowbar which is pretty much a compilation of every single album. Even the live ones..listen to that and then decide which album you'd like to get first..but if you're going for album then get either Sonic Excess In It's Purest Form, Time Heals Nothing (if you can find it..), or Odd Fellows Rest...can't go wrong with any of them though...

Thanks folks. Down sounds a lot like Crowbar eh? But they dont sound as depressing.

Nola is the only Down album that has some similarities towards Crowbar. But not much though. Crowbar... heavier than a really heavy thing.
