Nuendo 3 works fine, so I am pretty sure that Cubase SX3 will be fine too. Vista is amazing. Beautiful, fast, stable... but I suggest you to get the 32 bit version if you are worried about compatibility with "old" softwares and drivers.

Oh, I won´t bother post benchmarks on an audio forum to prove my point, so choose what you like most, just trying to help here. I use my PC for Adobe CS3, Microsoft Office 2007, Nuendo 3, Reason 4, internet and some programming and cracking related stuff. Vista is working VERY fast and never hanged on any of these functions. Should I say that it sucks just because it´s from Microsoft? Actually I love Microsoft since they released Xbox360 :D

One word of advice though: EZdrummer is not supported in Vista. I had to reset the whole damn computer after installing it. Made me....not entirely happy...

For drums I use Battery3 and Reason 4. Both works fine on Vista.
Don´t know about Toontracks products, but I think that their page or forum might help : /

The only thing I havent liked about Vista are the input/outputs on my Firepod, it listed them all the same name. So you have to go in and test it each one, and rename it.

As for Ezdrummer, running it on Vista, and not had any problems. Even recorded a quick track via midi with my Roland TD-6 set... didn't even have to change any of the mapping... peice of cake!

'More stable than XP' is roughly equivalent to 'More pleasant than having rough sex with a food processor'... since the day it came out I've gotten - and completely ignored, because I don't like pain enough yet - more calls about Vista crashes and compatibility problems than I could count. Keep backups.
