To be honest it's not really a biggie as the Sonalksis FreeG plugin makes up for it. It's not as if it has any relation to the true preamp gain stage, it's just another software volume control.

I sometimes use those free GVST plugs... like GGain etc, when I just don't feel like using the DAW's own stuff :>
