My friend and I recorded some samples of his 14" Cube Custom Birch Snare.

There's nothing special about the mic placement or the mics. We used 57 on top and bottom. no room mics (I'll add room samples to the finish pack).

Here's a short example:

Cymbals, Kick and Toms are Superior but there's no snare bleed in the OH Track so you're listen to the raw snare track (except for some little compression and eq adjustment).

Maybe we'll do some samples of his whole kit (14" and 16" tama starclassic, 22x18 Kick) with top/bottom mic as well as room mics and Kick In/Out.

So, what do you think about this short example? We record only hard and rimshorts - so there are no rolls or ghostnotes.

thanks so much dude! the zip does error out but still creates a folder with top and btm mics, 4 rim shots each... is this correct?

That's great. Keep sure to post the new sample in this thread (to get a notification as I subscribed).

They sound good. There's a build up on 435Hz that you can take out while mixing.
What's the tuning on both the top and the bottom heads?

I don't know that much about the tuning. My friend tuned the snare until it sounds good to our ears. The only thing I remember is that we used an evans ec head.
