making a kick and snare sample tomorrow! Any suggestions?

As you read i was gonna sample it up tomorrow
im gonna spend sometime on it and i thought i would ask for some suggestions and/or "secrets" on how i could make a killer tone anything from EQ settings to compression, mic placement etc. etc. I doing both kick and snare The mics i have for now is a 57 and 2 beta kick mics lol oh and a shitty CAD snare mic i was gonna use on the bottom

It'd be cool if you could get just some really nice sounding raw samples. In other words, no EQ or compression, because most of us here would probably prefer (if we use the samples) to use our own EQ and compression techniques/settings.

So on that note, focus on mic placement and tuning as much as you can. Trust your ears, and reference it to other good sounding samples/songs.
