This is my first snare build. 14x8 horizontal maple stave. Trick throw and butt, Tama older style diecast hoops w/gate, custom ordered to specs tube lugs, puresound blaster wires. I recently picked up a shop smith Mark V (big ass wood working machine) to help me build my next drums, I thinking full kit this time.

I will cut actual samples of this snare in the near future if anyones interested. Let me know if you prefer the lower or higher tuning and amount of moon gels for the samples.

Man this was so much fun to build and it sounds great.
Cheers!

Sounds grate. I'm always preferred higher tuning, because it's tighter and cuts through mix better. Seems 2 gels works best to remove those resonant harmonics.

Sounds good indeed. Like both low and high tuning. I prefer one moon gel actually on this video. If you plan to make samples from it, think about making room samples as well ;)
