custom made pedal and replicas

What are your opinions? Are they usually equal (soundwise) or enough similar not to notice the difference?

There's this guy who makes copies of TS9, OD808, Dr Boogey/boogeyman (he says it's a rectifier and mark IIC+ recreated in pedals and he even goes to say that they sound a lot better than the original amps), MXR Noise Gate for 1/3 of its price, but I am kinda skeptical as to there quality. Have you bought a custom made pedal or replica made by a no-name that sounded good?

I think the Fulltone Fulldrive is a great boutique pedal so it the HBE compressor retro. Who is this guy you speak of? Does he have a site?
