DANTHRAX

Wow. I NEVER hear those songs where I live. It's all Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, King Nothing, Nothing Else Matters.... I guess the radio where I live SUCKS. >_<

Only is definitely not in Creed territory, but it definitely sounded more like Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, etc. than before, which is the style that the mainstream was going nuts over at the time. Definitely not an all-out commercial-fest like Metallica's self-titled, but you can't deny it was a bit more radio-friendly than, say, "Discharge" or "Belly of the Beast" for instance.

Still a very good song, though, I can't deny that. Always a very good listen.

I don't think anyone is denying it was more "radio-friendly" single off their CD, but who is going to fault a major band for that?

It's not like they did a whole record of songs like that, and they kept their dignity with the one that they did do... that's tough.

Anyway, DANTHRAX will be fine, and the new singer will get them some media buzz, etc., at first. If they deliver the goods, all should be good in 'Thraxville.

Only is a good song! It may have sounded mainstream but was better than what Metallica was doing and sounded nothing like Nickleback, Creed, Staind, etc.

I do not even think ONLY sounds mainstream just because it has a hooky chorus. And I do not think that it was written to fit the mainstream taste. They had good hooklines in the Joey-Era too, e.g. A.I.R., Who Cares Wins...

Most important of all the song is 100% ANTHRAX. There is not that much change in style between POT and SOWN.

I think it's more straightforward than POT, and less straight-up thrashy. (There's thrash moments, I know that, but not as much as POT, that's all.)
