You never had to format your PC? To format the C drive on a Windows computer, you get on DOS and write Format C. I wouldn't know what the "for cortex" means, but continuing with the Windows drive formatting i'd say it's a way to say that you're getting to the core/cortex (i know they're not the same, but hell) of the computer, or maybe of a person's mind. Hell, i don't know, let me overanalyze that song and i'll come up with something.

Format C: For Cortex is just a technological way of saying the nihilist process that a person goes through. Since the cortex is the outer grey layer of the brain that allows memory (I'm not sure if it allows thinking), to delete all information on it would entail the lack of values in that person, thus nihilism.

If you read closely, Damage Done is the most nihilistic album of DT, with songs like The Treason Wall, Format C: For Cortex, Cathode Ray Sunshine and White Noise/Black Silence. Not to mention Ex Nihilo.

Yep, this is pretty much what I get from the lyrics and what greater minds have told me about them. As I said, I think the concept is very interesting and provides some food for thought, but the actual lyrics just repeat that concept (unless I'm missing something). They are not bad lyrics, but I just expect more from DT.
