^ Yeah, I'll take Jupiler over any Dutch beer.... well, I do like Hertog Jan, but Jupiler is great.

Vlaams beir for the win, sorry nederlanders :P

I'm not sure that Het Kanon by Grolsch or the Quadrupel by La Trappe qualify as beers to most, with their 12% alcohol, but although some Belgian Tripels come close, and I certainly won't say no to a Westmalle, I haven't found anything there that approaches the tastiness of those two Dutch ones. Trappist or otherwise... I don't drink any lager-style beers anymore, but in that realm only Brand (from tap) is fit for imbibement on this side of the border. The rest is like Amsterdam canal water, which is saying something even if they're not quite as bad as what Americans dare call beer...

Actually, before I moved here, I used to diss American beer so much
as though I was on a mission... but when I moved here,
I discovered so many good microbreweries that are EXCELLENT. Too bad
those beers never see the light of day outside of this country though,
because you'd be impressed, take my non-american word for it! :)

Yeah Het kanon is great I agree. I love lager beers as an "everyday beers" while the dark ones with a good dinner or at night time... I do find Hoegaarden, Leffes, Stella, Jupiler, Duvel, etc..... to be excellent!
belgian beers were always my favorite...
I think above all though.... Ik mis mijn Hertog Jan :goggly:

coors light is like GUMMY BEARS. (my dad drinks it cause it's cheap and other cheap beers give him heartburn)

No worries, I know - they just can't call it "beer", can they? :p
I've lived in Seattle for 8 years and there are some fine, fine local microbrews - Pike Place and Maritime Pacific used to find their way into my fridge on a more than regular basis, but of course they had to call them Ales for being above the 3.5% alcohol level (off the top of my head). The Big Time brewpub (two blocks from the astronomy department) also had good stuff. I even tried to find importers interested in trying to get some of the West Coast microbrews I know, over here, but that just wasn't financially interesting to them.

Bud, Coors, Miller and the like, however... (insert your favorite gross smiley here) I'm sure people only get that due to it being dirt cheap.

PS: Ik heb nog geen pot gezien waar ik op zou willen :p

Yeah, they do call it ales but they are great non the less. I especially enjoy all the seasonal ales here. Especially the winter ones. Love winter beer.
You know, not everybody drinks bud and Corona and all that water crap... it's just the most popular beers and you're right, because they're cheap.
(YUK!!!!!! :zombie: )
Even the Heineken here is gross. ....I'm not a Heineken fan, but it sure tastes better in The Netherlands...

Hey, send me some Hertog Jans!!! ;)

PS: Ik heb nog geen pot gezien waar ik op zou willen :p

haha! :goggly:

I don't drink the crappy beer because it's cheap (I don't really think they're that much cheaper anyway). It's mostly because I don't want a beer belly. So I'll drink one or two actual beers, and have a few of the shitty light ones

I love Stella Artois and Duvel, but I'm am very sad no one mentioned my favorite: Delirium. Preferably of the Nocturnum variety. Only one bar to buy it at around here, and a liquor store about 60 miles away.
