Exactly what the FUCK are you thinking? Allow me to elaborate:

Haze 40 Combo:

-40 watts from 2x EL34's
-FX loop
-Presence pot
-Bright button just for the clean channel, boost buttons for both channels
-Optional 4-button footswitch for switching channels, toggling the two channel boosts, and toggling built-in FX

Haze 15 Head:

-15 watts from 2x 6V6's
-No FX loop
-GLOBAL bright button (WTF???????)
-No boost buttons
-No presence pot

I have to agree here.

This company has made either terrific or terrible amps over the years.
And some huge fails as Marcus indicated.

One can compare them with Gibson.Golden Era has ended and they simply can't keep up with their competitors.

Wtf is wrong with them?

Never liked Marshall, Almost every amp (not that i have tried every model) usually has an uggly 250-450bump that is just plain uggly sounding. And not good for high gain, and for rock'n roll yeah off course but this isnt a rock n roll forum is it???

Maybe someone else have love for this brand but im guessing they are somewhat +40

and plexi's and all the older or older style models.
The new ones are pretty Meh
The Dsl is Okay; but they dont do much for me.

The only marshall amps i dig are the old jcm 800's modded and the jvm's and thats about it.

Don't suppose you've heard Opeth's "Watershed", Crille? And Burny (800), Darthjuju (900), Lasse (2203KK), and Felix Neumann (JVM) have all posted awesome high-gain tones with Marshalls, so while you may not like it, saying they're not good for high-gain is flat-out wrong. And rock 'n roll is gay, and I resent the implication that I like it However, the DSL and TSL can suck it.

ANYWAY, the reason the idea of a Haze 40 head appeals to me is how fucking awesome it would be for live use, with built-in footswitchable delay and boost, as well as the lighter weight and lower cost! (compared to full-sized models) And I'm sure with a boost in front it would sound more than good enough in a live environment (and you can't beat that upper-mid Marshall punch for steamrolling your way to the front of the mix )

Hahaha yeah Off course you can achieve great tones with some of their amps, but when i think of that typical marshall tone, i just dont fancy it that much but its all a matter of taste, Andy is the greatest example of all to be able to make any amp sound good

The older Marshall designs are where it's at. My JMP is one of my favorite amps ever.

I totally agree that Marshall has gone in a questionable direction since the JCM800 and I hope they can right the course.

Yep, I think that album has the tightest low end on the guitars I've heard in a long time.

Ever since they started to roll out the JVMs, VMs and Reissues, I didn't feel that they were lacking much in any department.

The JVMs are, IMHO, among the finest amps currently out there with an almost unrivalled versatility.

I agree, the Haze 15 head misses some needed features (especially the FX-Loop) that I miss on the Jet City JCA20H as well. However, it's Marshall's first venture into small powered/sized heads (and they are geared towards beginners too) so hopefully there'll be more in the future. A mini-version of an 800 or a JVM would be sweet.

So... even though I don't own one currently, I know that I'll eventually come back to them... always.

Yes, but my point is, why do they offer so many of those awesome features in the combo, but not the head? Are they really that worried that a Haze 40 Head would cannibalize sales from their higher-end heads?

If you ask me, I played lot of different Marshall amps and if you´d allow me this extreme and obviously a little bit exaggerated expression..The JVM series is like a diamond in a pile of shit! In combination with the mesa recti cab, it´s a dream coming true for me. I have made lots of disappointments with other Marshall amps though. @Marcus thanks for mention me!

I said almost unrivalled. Engl SE is among those few too.

But yeah, I'd love to know why exactly there's so much of a difference between head and combo. Could be a multitude of reasons.
