Death match: Warrel vs. Geoff Tate and...

There is a difference between them and all the "mainstream" metal vocalists. Psycologocally seen the popular vocalists are more "important" to us. Think how you would feel if Warrel did not sing again and how if John Cyriis didn't. They are all good, but they are lokal, not everyone's cap of tee. On the other hand everyone (or most people) want to discuss about famous ones. It is something we have to share.
And the others who didn't make it to the top, they remain diamonds for the few.

Yeah! Destiny's End, Helstar, Riot, Crimson Glory are not important bands and noone ever listened to them right? Well I 'd like to believe that the ones listening to metal do a little better that just eating all the new groups and all the mainstream ones. They do a alittle digging up to discover the real magic in metal.

Crimson Glory is one of my favorite bands too.
I am just saying that it is easier to accept the popular groups. Concider it otherwise: When the song "Music" from Madonna came out and I heard it on the radio, I found it very very bad; but after I had heard it toooooo many times (unfortunately) I got used to it, it didn't bother me any more.
So, if you go to a metal club and all you hear is Queensryche, Maiden, Nevermore and Priest, then you don't become familiar with the sound of Heir Apparent, Riot or Mystic Force (or Cirith Ungol or Manilla Road or, or, or...). You have a chance only if your friends listen to those groups!

Point taken! You are right about that! But I think that metal youth should not grow up listening just to popular bands. If only there were metal clubs that really cared about metal! Daytime dreaming...

Well. The nevermore party was so and so! Dionyssos only plays veeeerrrrrryyyy mainstream things. Metal hammer i don't like. Few clubs all playing very mainstream music (good but they are repeating themselves). They are getting on my nerves. Fuck I just realised! I have to open a club so that the greek metal youth learns good metal.

Actually,I am a DJ in Patra's metal club,Drum, and I try to play as much not-well-known stuff as I can,but it's a very strange situation...you see, people go to clubs just to have fun,and they mainly want to hear classic stuff to headbang along.Last Monday I played Heaven's Gate - In Control and not a single head was banging...and I consider this to be a classic song.Anyway,I always play Crimson Glory:p
Another thing I have noticed:almost everyone knows DHIADW songs, but if sth from PoE or even DNB comes up,very few ppl know it.And don't even ask about S/T or In Memory...

I guess the whole attitude of the metal fans has changed. when i was younger and went to metal clubs and listened to a tune i hadn't heard again, and really liked it i was headbanging to it and tried to learn which track it was so that i can buy the fucking album. i really enjoyed myself if i listened to smthing new and learned a new band/track/album etc. i still do the same thing for tunes that listen to and i don't know them. it 's just that if you listen to priest/maiden/metallica's tunes all the time you eventually get bored of them. whereas you used to headbang to those tracks now you say "not that track again".
i guess that the metal fans don't think likewise these days. they just want to headbang to some track they know and don't care about the rest diamonds they are missing. Well let me say that in five years or less they won't be listening to metal at all and be trendy bastards, with full in fashion attitude, haircut, clothes etc. fuck them.
"In control" is a diamond and i would headbang to death if i ever heard that in a club, but i don't..

Evolution (in metal) is learning new things, not sticking with just what you know. this sux (as true light would comment).
