Death Metal or Glam?

I thought this was gonna be a debate about early morbid angels image.

Death metal or glam?
 
Well sure, old glam metal bands like Poison are more commercially viable than death metal, at least live. If that's what you're asking. Not by THAT much, though - I don't think any of them are selling out stadiums by themselves, except maybe Motley Crue, Aerosmith, etc.

The answer to your question depends on how you measure these things. But yeah, Dokken probably has a more comfortable lifestyle (savings notwithstanding) than even like Deicide.

I like watching a good death metal band live but for the most part the glam bands put on a better for energenic show in general, more "fun" as well.

I think both in CD and ticket sales glam does better. Death metal might have a few die hard fans but in 10, 15, or 20 years will those sames fans still be going to their local death metal shows? I highly doubt it. Glam on the other hand still has the same fans going 15 - 20 years later.

At this point death metal and glam are underground music.

I like death metal slightly better. Though the glam that I do listen to, I tend to like better than Death Metal. About the only glam bands that I like atm are 80s Pantera, old Skid Row, and Twisted Sister. All three of those bands are awesome.

Dude. It is 15 years since death metal happened. Death metal has many more than "a few die hard fans" still going to shows.

But yeah glam has more commercial appeal, so it's always gonna be bigger.
 
Trey from Morbid Angel is really influenced by eddie van halen so the bands image might stem from that mixed with say Slayer. You can tell they have an 80's look. Oldschool bands tend to have an image where new death metal or thrash bands do not really.
