decapitator vs reelbus vs fabfilter saturn??

If you are getting a cold sounding mix I don't think any plug or hardware unit will be the ultimate answer to your problems, just like if you decide "holy shit, that really needs a compressor!" that a compressor alone will not fix your problems.

yeah im kinda noob at mixing, i think i got the guitar right (my best one yet)

the drum is my hard part,

bass is done by a downpitched guitar in my axe-fx 2...

do you think the pumping is done by 2bus overcompression??

i think it's more a question of eq choices in the high end that make this mix seem sterile (maybe there is some inter-plugin clipping too)

a saturation plugin can't hurt though

Volume balance and middle frequencies are the biggest problem here. I'd say overheads and toms are way overcompressed and too high in the mix.

Volume balance!!!!!!!! Compare to some other pro mixes. :)

thanx a bunch for the input!

i'm having trouble making the toms cut thru in the heavy part... i guess i need to get some automation going to lower it (or the velocity) in the smoother part...

I agree with everyone else that even if you had all these plugins it wouldn't make the world of difference in a mix. That being said I thing your mix sounds decent. It could have some more "largeness" for lack of a better term, but it's balanced.

I have demo'd reelbus but ended up getting RoundTone by SKNote. There is no demo available but Quinto will refund you if you tell him the plugin is not for you, all he asks of you is to delete it and not use it anymore. I am glad I took the plunge because I LOVE RoundTone!

I'm no pro, but I'd start with the drums. Maybe blend some samples underneath the kick and or snare. Or maybe some parallel compression or more room sound.

Also, the rhythm guitars and bass seem to be sharing a lot of the same frequencies. Some eq sculpting in the the rhythm guitar tracks might help this. The cleans sound mint.

The lead guitar at 2:20 could come up a few db in volume in my opinion.

Like I said before the mix definitely isn't bad, but for the type of the music you have I would imagine a mix that sounds over the top and huge.

cool! thanx fpr those tips!

yeah i need to sculp the bass a bit more i think to let the guitar be bigger
