Deicide+Nile+Akercocke+Graveworm+Amon Amarth+Dew Scented+Misery Index+Disbelief

short sharp reviews of the sets I saw.

Disbelief and Misery index I missed

Graveworm - Cradle of filth wannabe black metal. not good I'm afraid.

Dew scented - good band and good effort but terrible sound and I could hardly hear guitars. Good effort.

Amon Amarth - 2nd best set of the night and the best sound. The Sound was in fact awesome from the balcony. I kept changing vantage points trying to find good sound the whole night and the top tier in the balcony was the best i found. Great music and more melodic riffing giving the less hardcore brutal fans something more to latch on to. Finishing off with their stomping anthem Victorious March! \m/!!

Akercocke - err Blast Blast Blast was all i heard. Pure drum overload. Not for me I'm afraid. Of course the fans loved them.

Nile - err sorry but what's the fuss with Nile? Sure they have a huge underground following and the Nile shirt count was large but I just don't get it. Average for me. i'm sorry!

Destruction. good sound and decent thrash riffs. Ultimate thrash song was Thrash til death! Killer tune. the rest was so so. the mad butcher was back and very angry!

Deicide. easily the best set. Catchy death metal with great riffs from Glen and co. Also the most charismatic front man in Death metal. Actually giving us something to laugh about and not just dead serious all the time. Could have done with hearing a new song maybe. also they came on pretty late and if they came on earlier they could have played 3-4 more songs. The sound was good but once again the guitar was too low in the mix. seems like the sound of the whole show was geared towards allowing the drummers to show us their talents and fuck the guitarists. personally i like geetars way more than drums!!

Overall an enjoyable evening and good to see an extreme metal fest so well attended. Gripes was the sound and also the slow service at the bar sometimes but hey there was a huge crowd so I espect big queues. Thye actually even ran out of draught stella and even the bottles went short. There was seriously drinking going on last night and I saw many people the worse for wear and that was like at 6 or so. Seems like peeps don't know how to pace themselves!! they were getting hammered way before the end!

Anyway know doubt i will see some of the regular metal crowd at Maiden on Friday and possibly stampin' ground on wednesday though I'm not sure I'll be going to that one!! Can't wait for Maiden! Up the irons!

I think quite a few people missed graveworm and misery index because they were at the decapitated gig, well i was anyway :D even though it cocked up

I agree with what you said about akercocke. Nile were amazing to me, as well as Dew-Scented, Deicide and Amon Amarth.
