Delain- April Rain

It has taken a while, but Delain is really starting to grow on me. I figured out what I didn't like about them, and that is this:

You're signed to ROADRUNNER and you can't spring for an actual orchestra in the studio? I'm a keyboardist myself and I love strings, but something about the way the keyboardist plays the orchestra parts seems to be lacking. A lot of people are saying it feels soulless, and I think this is why I feel that way. Lacking a lot of depth as far as the mixing goes.

Still, seeing them at PPXI is going to be excellent. I find that seeing a band live usually helps push me over the edge into loving them.

Delain says they are a pop band done metal style. "Musically, Delain (just as WT or Nightwish) writes and plays pop-songs"

Agreed with WT but not as much with Nightwish. Current Nightwish has a couple pop songs for sure, but I think the Tarja era was pretty much operatic metal and it was heavier. Just my opinion though. Tarja was NOT a pop singer.
