I've got a question for you and other people who do layouts, just out of interest... What do you guys need to start working on a design? How much done artwork to use on the layout, or do you guys do stuff yourselves or something?

Excuse me, I really have no idea what making layouts includes. I'm going to need a layout for my band later, I'll keep you in mind.

i usually make my own textures and images. (Canon EOS 450D)
and logos by hand too.
