hey guys,

quick question: i'd like to record some tracks with my acoustic guitar (classical, nylon strings) to layer with the clean electric guitar tracks. the thing is, the stuff is tuned to B standard, so regular concert guitar strings don't cut it.

any recommendations as far as nylon strings for detuning (to B) go??

i came across some extra heavy tension strings, would these fit the bill?

moreover, any general acoustic micing tips/techniques?
i was thinking of using a LDC around the 12th fret, angled towards the body, and a sm58 wherever it sounds best, and then pan these hard L/R.....would that do the trick, or am i way off??

thanks!

i remember reading an interview on home recording with andy he recommends aiming the mic at where the fretboard meets the bodt rather than the soundhole and youll have a less "boomy" tone

well, so there isn't any tried-and-true way of using acoustic guitars for detuned stuff?

playing thing's an octave higher or with a capo isn't an option, unfortunately.

i'm mainly talking about stuff like e.g. behemoth-sculping the throne of seth intro, that's the sort of licks i'll be playing.....acoustic intro's or clean passages, often doubled by an electric. i'd just like to get that acoustic flair.

is there any way to do this??
