DI issues

MetalJonesy

more metal, more booze!!!
Right ive got a samson S Direct unit, and im doin some DI tracks with my LTD loaded with EMGs.

With the ground lift engaged and the thru/output link connected to my amp, its business as usual, until i listen to the recorded DI track where its got ground noise present.

However when i disengage the ground link, the actual thru link to the amp is overly noisey/ground noise, however the DI track is as clean as a whistle.

whats going on?
aghhhh:erk:

Ground loop. All that ground lift is doing is changing where the loop is going. Gotta isolate it.

thats whats on top of it

That diagram explains exactly what is going on. You have noise in thier right? When you have the ground lift off, the noise is passing thru the ground coming off the input/output, and looping thru the unit to the ground coming off the XLR.... Then if you lift it, the noise just goes to the amp.

I would try to find what part of the chain is causing it and fix it. Otherwise, by a ground loop isolator.
