yes there is both a remake of the original...and Sam raimi and Bruce Campbell are continuing the series.

Sam Raimi mixed Horror and Comedy before it was cool, when I first watched it it was still a rather origional idea (unless you count unintentional humour like house of wax ect). I usually like my horror serious and dark, but for Ash and his boom stick there is an acception.
