Die

DIE consists of myself and my cohort from my old band playing all instruments and vox. I do most of the death vox, sing one song, the other guy does all the other singing, but has a few screamin' parts.

So as far as the music goes, we try to balance being really powerfully heavy with being really melodic in one song. They end up being a little longer than radio songs, and I don't think lyrics about killing people will help our bid for MTV stardom. The lyrics are not completely overt cannibal corpse song type lyrics (except for like two lines in the first song, which isn't even really all that bad...) but they do deal with death.

The style of music is definetly not like typical death metal either, as there are alot passages with keys, samples, clean/acoustic guitars, backwards vocals, big choruses, that sort of stuff.

Just about all the comments we've recieved have been positive and only a few people seem to think we are trying to ripoff Opeth, which I don't really get, but who am I to tell people what to think...personally, I don't think either of us sound like Mikeal Åkerfeldt, our songs are alot simpler than Opeth's, and while we do have the whole light/heavy similarity (as alot of bands do...), I think our light parts are still pretty heavy and overall since this little album was not recorded in a studio, it's pretty safe to say that we don't really sound like Opeth.

I will however readily admit to attempting to play like Mr. Thordendal on "Lifted and Taken" during the solo.

And uh, yeah...so there are eight songs for about 45 minutes worth of album and we are trying to get them printed up with artwork right now to have something somewhat professional looking to present to the labels instead of the good ol' cd-r with sharpie writing...

Unfortunetly when they ask us if we have a full live band together yet, we will have to say no since we still live about five hours away from each other...but we'll see what happens I guess, if the goddamn artwork will ever get finished...that's a whole other story...

So, the whole album is available for download. Feel free to eat up all my bandwidth and tell me we sound like Opeth. And don't forget to wish us luck and wipe the seat.
