Blocking unregistered users on band forum is the equivalent of 20 year old guys building a tree house with a "no girls allowed" sign on the front door.

So your saying that 90% of all the other "band forums" here on UM that dont allow unregistered posting are gay?

I wasnt' trying to imply that it was "gay" to ban unregistered posters. I'm just saying it seems childish. Although I only have a few dozen posts on this board, I do read the forum regularly. I haven't really noticed an offensive amount of negative posts from unregistered users. Then again, the opinion of the board moderators may differ, as they've no doubt had to filter a lot of shite that gets posted.

I just don't see any harm in letting the casual observer stop by and post a thing or too. If they like what they see, then they can register. It's just my 2 cents.

As for the LRD thing... He was banned for a reason. So, thats a different issue. His posts should be scrubbed by the mod(s) ASAP. I have no tolerance for sexual predators, and I don't see any reason to cut him some slack.

i don't think shutting down guest posting is going to stop trolls. they'll just sign up with random usernames and post shit, get banned, restart etc.

i dunno if i remember correctly but doesnt lrd post from libraries or some shit? even if thats not so i think theres ways to get around ip banning fairly easily.

LRD could make a new username and come back... but then he would either have to behave so we dont know its him and have him banned again, or he will be a twat and get banned, over and over again. Eventually he might give up making new usernames.

Imho, guest posting on is almost the same as jerks logged in.
So, what's the big deal? Leaving it on gets you some fun, some irritation and some memorable commentaries.

no, because if we have the ability to ignore all guest posting, some people wont, and then still talk to LRD as a guest and he will continue to come back, if he cant guest post, chances are he will just dissapear. And if he makes a new account, people can ignore his new account untill he gets banned again.
