For those even slightly sci-fi interested, I give you District 9:

In fact, if you're even slightly interested in the human condition, it's worth checking out.

It looks beyond awesome, and the word from the critical community is overwhelmingly positive.

Yeah, it's really just snuck in. The short that Blomkamp made a few years age was really, really good, and so this deserved to be made for sure. It was on the back of the short than Jackson was trying to get Blomkamp attached as the director of the Halo movie.

I am ridiculously excited.

The marketing campaign was also quite cool:

I've read that they put "Humans only" signs on buses and in public parks.

I've been so excited about this movie. Sucks that I can't see it in the theaters because ITALIANS ARE FUCKING DOUCHEBAGS AND DUB THEIR FILMS!!!

Yeah, when I spent a significant amount of time there that really got my goat too. In Rome only two (larger) cinemas even showed movies in the original language, and the show times were sporadic at best.

I am hoping with bated breath that it hits Czechia and without too much delay.

I've been sitting, jerking off silently to the trailer, for months. So fucking excited for it.

Good reviews so far, too.

Excuse Armond White's rotten review. The guy calls himself a critic, but he just sits around waiting for 15 - 20 good reviews on RT before trashing it as overrated amateur garbage. He did it with Dark Knight, Star Trek, Iron Man, Up, The Hangover, Gomarrah, There Will Be Blood, Sunshine, Children of Men... etc. He does the opposite when movies get horrible reviews, waiting for 15-20 awful ones before calling the movie a masterpeice... GI Joe, Transporter 3, Death Race, Swing Vote, Terminator Salvation, etc. All in an effort, many believe, to have his name wider open on RT.

How that man has a job still puzzles me.

Yeah, he's labelled a "contrarian" by the critic community, and I agree, he's not worthy of publication.

Looks like this will be an excellent movie. Maybe they'll get the Halo movie off the ground if it's successful too.

Will be seeing it Monday night, unless for some reason I can find a midnight showing tonight...

I see no Czech release date, but it has a distributor for here, so I'm firmly crossing my fingers.

Whoever manages to see it will need to post some thoughts.

Totally confused it with that French movie.

Looks and sounds great. Better than Surrogates does, anyway.

Yeah there's a lot of posters downtown here that say "Bus stop for humans only" etc. Does look like a cool movie, but I pretty much never go to theaters. Maybe I'll download it.

Yeah, I think at worst it's definitely worth a download. If you can be arsed making it to a theatre though, I think it'll be pretty ace.

The marketing thing is pretty cool, and they weren't too subtle with it either. Apparently in Joburg they had some "humans only" buses, which didn't go down to well.

I think they have those on buses here too. And I'm not totally opposed to movie theaters, I used to go with my friend a lot before she moved to LA. But if somebody doesn't ask me to go I'm not gonna spend $12 to see a movie by myself.
