The Guyatone OD-2 is another low budget (MF has 'em for $60) TS alternative:

It's supposed to be smoother and have more low end than a TS9, but isn't everything these days? Heh. I'd be interested to know if anyone's actually tried one.
I half-assedly look for a good eBay deal on one of these from time to time, but no dice so far.

I'm skeptical of any pedal that tries to "improve" upon the TS808. The mids present in the TS808 help to compensate for a scooped sound on the amp. It's all relative to what you're using it with and what you're going for though.

hmmm interesting circuit board they've got there. i'll build one in Lab Class tomorrow and see if its any good.
