Read in the paper last night that Chirs Eclestenenson or whatever his name is has packed it in after just 1 season as the Doctor for fear of being typecast

They're looking to cast someone else.

Don't they all just last one season? Or something?

A few of them have lasted a bit longer than that.

And by a few, he means all of them. Except for McGann, who was the movie Doctor. Colin Baker was only two seasons though...

What about Hartnell? He didn't last long.

Hartnell did 3 seasons. Same as Troughton, Pertwee, Davidson and (I think) McCoy. Tom Baker did 7, and Colin baker did 2.

OK. I must admit that my knowledge of Dr Who pre-Pertwee isn't that good.
