Student discounts on stuff that I know the company offers (like digidesign)?

I think I am going to get an mbox 2 and learn PT.

If not I will just order from sweetwater.

Guitar Center can sell 90% of stuff for 10% over their wholesale cost... don't ever buy things at the tagged price... just make them give you a deal

they mark everything up almost everything. you can always get anything cheaper somehow there. certain things they cant touch but most of the stuff they can take off.

the only stuff as far as i kno they cant touch are mesa, apple, certain high end pro audio btu everything else they can shave off an extra 15% i figured

Digidesign has a small markup from what GC/MF buy the products from. MonsterCable on the other hand is sold to GC/MF at less than half what it is sold for - so yes it's possible to get the prices dropped on those.

But, just in terms of student discounts - no. Day in and day out, I have people requesting discounts just because they are either a student, are in the military, or are from a church. I don't care what your reason is, a musician is a musican - and no one is going to discount you over everyone else just because you are in school/in the military/ or think you are part of gods plan.

I have seriously had customers yell at me and tell me that if I don't give them a discount, then I'm going against god and his will. I will never treat one customer better than other regardless of their affiliation.

HOWEVER - if I know a customer is a pro musician, obviously scrapped for cash and just trying to keep his source of income alive - then you sir are worthy of any discount I can offer.

Common this is a perfectly valid question many software companies either offer a student discount (with proof) or have some limited version for cheaper for students. I was just wondering if GC did the same.

I don't demand a discount but sometimes SHIT IS OVERPRICED especially in guitar center.

Unless this was recently changed, MonsterCable had a hard minimum and GC employee's couldn't move on their prices.
