Hey Dokken is coming up to buffalo and well I know george lynch but I want some recomendations from the old school forum, Which albums do you guys like the best?? anyone knows how the setlist is gonna be? etc

Mine are Tooth And Nail and Back For The Attack. Those are classics. You might also want to check out the other albums they released in the 80's, Breaking The Chains and Under Lock And Key. In other words, Dokken did no wrong in the 80's. The bulk of their setlist are going to be comprised of those albums, i guarantee you.

Under Lock & Key, by far is the only Dokken record that I listen to all the time.
There is no stinker on that record. That record should have sold just as many copies as let's say Crue's Girlsx3!!!!! It's actually even a better record!!!!!
I think Tooth & Back are also decent records, but I would have to recommend to you,
Under Lock & Key!!!!!! Has anyone heard their new one? Hell to Pay?!
I just got Barry Spark's solos record with Billy G & Nugent on it. It's not a rocker, though, fair warning!!!!!

The classic live album Beast from the East should do the trick ;)

Last time I saw them their setlist was very close to the one on this live release.

That would be a good introduction to the band, that truly was the band in their prime. You could also get the best of record with the highlights from the first record through Dysfunctional....

Best Hard Rock/melodic Metal band of it's time! Don't bother with seeing them live as you probably will be dissapointed!! No George Lynch, no Jeff pilson, and Don's voice is shot!

Probable setlist (in other words for D, the usual...) in no order:

Into The Fire
Just got Lucky
The Hunter
Too High To Fly
It's Not Love
Alone Again
Breaking The Chains
Paris Is Burning
In My Dreams
Kiss Of Death

And yeah, pick up "Beast From The East" if you want to hear them at their peak. You also get their last studio track (at the time) "Walk Away", an excellent ballad!

Truer word have never been spoken! I saw them 4 times on the Under Lock And Key tour.... one of my all time favorite bands! The best album from the 80's to pick up is ALL OF THEM!! hahahaha....

1982 Breaking the Chains
1984 Tooth and Nail
1985 Under Lock and Key
1987 Back for the Attack
1988 Beast from the East [live]

I don't know what that traveling road show is that Don has put together these days but it's not Dokken. My advice would be to put your money towards buying the old albums instead of paying to see "Dokken" live these days. Just my opinion. :)

Yeah to add on what Greeno said, I would avoid anything after Beast from the East...
The Dokken Live from the Sun is lame. They are more of a lounge act on there & at that time they had, both Pilson & Brown on board. I felt bad from Reb Beach, because, though he was a part of Winger, he is a excellent guitarist. He did a pretty good job doing Lynch & improvised some. I don't know who the new guitar player is, but the bass player is Barry Sparks, who played with Schenker & toured with Nugent last summer. He smokes Pilson in his sleep. Unfortunately, he won't get a chance to really show his chops in a band like Dokken.

Oops, I forgot one album. "One Live Night" is a pretty good live acoustic album. It was released in 1995 when they tried to get it back together. There is also a DVD of the show. Other then that album the rest of the 90's releases should be avoided.

Under Lock & Key is my favourite probably. The only bad song on that is Till The Living End. I think Back For The Attack is more consistent, but Under Lock & Key has more standouts so I prefer it. Love 'em both though!

Tooth & Nail rocks too! And Beast From The East is a great live album.

I didn't forget :Puke: One Live Night!!! You mean you did the Mick Brown & Pilson tracks where they took lead vocals?! That was unlistenable, in my opinion. Dokken unplugged?!:yuk: Someone should have pulled the plug on that idea!

I diagree, I thought it was a cool reunion thing.... but they should have stopped there!!

My vote also goes to 80's Dokken. My favs in order are Under Lock & Key, Back For The Attack, Tooth and Nail, and Breaking The Chains. I also saw them on the Lock & Key tour and they were excellent. I bought Dysfunctional but didn't really like it and have avoided the other recent albums so as not to taint my memories.

I gotta disagree with you also on the unplugged thing as I thought is was pretty cool (although as you say, Mick Brown on lead vocals is downright vomitory!)

I have the L/P album, and I think that it is quite excellent! It is a good mixture of 80's Dokken and more modernistic Rock music (in a good way!)

There are one or two songs on there that I think that if received any sort of consistent radio-play, would be rather large hits! But, since they are essentially on a indie label, there isn't shit that will happen with them. Too bad...

Oh, and I also recommend the new War & Peace album (Jeff Pilson's other solo project). Straight-up Rock songs with very good vocal stylings from JP.

Listening to these albums makes me realize where the songwriting strength in Dokken came from!

Tooth And Nail rocks!

I was thinking of getting another Dokken album, which one out of these two would some of you old-schoolers reccomend?

Breaking The Chains, or Under Lock And Key?
