a doom band I have yet to check out but sounds cool: Electric Wizard. I've seen their albums Dopethrone and one other one (can't remember the name offhand) that I'll soon get thanks to recommentdation on this board.

I'm going to suggest to you mister dsm Agalloch and Madder Mortem. Neither one is really doom metal, but they are both depressing and very good. Also, check out Scholomance and The 3rd and the Mortal. And While Heaven Wept, as PGM suggested.

If you want some old school doom, find Witchfinder General "Death Penalty" and "Friends of Hell."

no one's mentioned it yet, but I will. Look for Sleep's "Holy Mountain." Seriously stoned out doom fest.
