Yeah I've heard them all now...some more closely than others for whatever reason.....let me collect my thoughts....

OMEN - Battlecry: Yes!!! Every bit as good as I'd imagined. They bridge that gap between Manilla Road and Maiden. I might like them more than MR tbh.

CLOVEN HOOF -- I am surprised at how good this is, and I gotta love that late 80's production.

I haven't given the others a fair chance yet, but I will in the next few days.

By the way, the OLD SEASON gets better with each listen. The lead guitar tone is just stunning. I don't know who's playing, but he's got the sweetest vibrato I've heard in a while!

OK so help me prioritize the listening of these bands:

Isole
Martiria
Wotan
Well of Souls
Holy Martyr

I'm really keen to check out Martiria again just because it's got so much NWOBHM in it (from what I remember and based on my earlier post above).

I love Holy Martyr so fucking much, I cannot recommend them enough, even though the guitar tone may be shit, it is simply amaizng epic stuff.

Martiria may take a few listens to finally "click" but once it does, it is seriously phenomenal. The booklet does help, but without it I'd assume it is still accessibel after a few listens. It tells of a lot of stories from the bible. E-P-I-C!!!!

Well of Souls is epic doom metal with a viking kinda atmosphere. Really good shit.

Isole is epic doom metal in the vein of Candlemass but more raw and probably les grandiose. Great fucking song-writing ala Mournful Congregation.

Wotan is epic power metal in the vein of Manowar crossed with a rawer Virgin Steele minus all the keyboards. It took me awhile to grab hold of this music but once it did, it split my head in two. The vocal harmonies are ridulously good.

meh (probably also for the second time) i keep hearing everyone in doom circles saying it's the best epic doom album in X years and blah blah, and it's just not that fantastic imo
