Doomed Planet Records - an enigma

Who are they? Where are they based? Anyone know a URL? Are they still in business?

Here are/were some bands on their roster:

TAUNTED
ARSON
GOTHAM
IKKI CRANE
JACK THE RIPPER
THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG*
RELLIK
STONE VENGEANCE
TRAMONTANE

Of course, all releases seem to be cult US metal, limited to less than 500 vinyl, and they all seem to be bands that like to 'wander off the beaten path'....

Other than *, does anyone know anything about these bands? Evil Legend? IOfTheStorm? Beuller?

I think i know the guy behind this, he is called Bob (or Joe?) Preston, a "worldwide known collector".
Apart from Slough Feg, i have heard Rellik who released an ep back in the 80s, and it was re-released some years ago in vinyl (and cd i think) with some demos in it. It has some great moments, but generally its not something really special. I also heard some Tramontane and they were good.

Ooh looks like I stumped IOfTheStorm for once! There is so little on these bands out there, you almost have to go by cover art alone.

What a dilemna. The fact is, sometimes you have to put your faith in a small underground label knowing what they're talking about....

Without having heard the bands above, i'd suggest that you should start with the "basics" of .. "u.s. metal" and then go to more underground stuff (their quality is questioned anyway).

Yes absolutely - I was just curious based on label name. I've already delved into it with the big guns: Manilla Road, Brocas Helm, Slough Feg...

I need to get some Liege Lord for starters.

I have ACEIUM, FUTURE TENSE, STONE VENGEANCE, SLOUGH FEG. All Doomed Planet Releases and all highly recommended by myself and ROB PRESTON. I haven't heard all of them yet... but I do hightly recommend getting the ACEIUM and FUTURE TENSE from me. He doesn't have a site. My LP prices are soon going to drop to compete with SENTINEL STEEL. It's a matter of being able to order more to save more. I wasn't able to order a whole lot.. hence my higher price. Actually, I can get stuff to you cheaper even with my prices cause SS charges around $5 shipping (I think) per order.

It's in the works. I'm hoping within the next month. It's just going to be a really, really, basic looking website, until I get enough money to build a better one. I need to continue to sell and dig to accomplish what I want. Who knows if I'll get there, but I like doing it a lot so that's a good sign right?

Right now it's only a page. Looks exactly like my list here. I need to expand it. I don't know how to even edit it yet, so I have a lot to learn ! Ugh.
