So I'm going to this 3-day festival this weekend. It's very much a mainstream festival, and there's some truly awful bands playing, but my housemate wanted to go and I figured I'd still have good fun and drink lots of beer. Plus there's a few pretty good bands playing; here's the line-up: http://www.downloadfestival.com/lineup/index.asp
Bands I'm probably gonna go see:
Megadeth
Black Sabbath
In Flames
Slayer
Motorhead
Anthrax
Paradise Lost (haven't actually heard a thing from them apart from Gothic; is the stuff they play now as bad as people say?)
Meshuggah
Nightwish*
Shadows Fall*
Killswitch Engage*
System of a Down*
*embarrassed to admit to, but I can't really be fussy with this line-up.
Anyway, are there any others I should check out? I haven't even heard of half the rest, I suspect they're mostly shit though.
I'd check out Dinosar Jr., The Dwarves, and Velvet Revolver too, along with all the groups you listed. Never heard Nightwish or Shadows Fall but should, and Killswitch put on a perfectly good show when I saw them a few years ago so I'd see them again. The rest are bands I dig, so there you go.
Aye, check out The Dwarves. Fun, fast punkrock with a great sense of humour. I'd also check out Flogging Molly if I were you, they mix punkrock with Irish folk music - and they do it well. Napalm Death is worth seeing live too, I s'pose. Those three are the only bands on the line-up that I actually like
Heheheh, I'm leaving for it tonight! Got me 38 tinnies but no food beyond a bad of licquorice allsorts and I need fags. And money. Crap But it should be a blast. There's a dozen of us camping together for starters, and then maybe that many more meeting us not long after. Fucking immense.
I'm gonna be seeing (more or less):
Megadeth
Lordi
Napalm Death
Anthrax
Black Sabbath
Velvet Revolver
Panic Cell
Slayer
Slipknot
Motorhead
Nightwish (probably)
One or two more like Raging Speedhorn, Johnny Truant I think...
I have no idea why it's called that to be honest, crappy name.
Me and my mate just got back from the supermarket. We made the tough decision to go with vodka over beer, as it's so much easier to carry. If it's cheap enough to buy at the festival then I'll get some, but I imagine it'll be a total rip-off. So we have 6 litres of vodkas between the 2 of us .
Think I'll check out The Dwarves, they sound pretty fun
I thought they called it that because it's the only way that people that go there get to hear music
Definately good thinking on bringing vod instead of beer dude. My bag is weighed down with cans and I don't even have all of them on me. Never mind, live and learn I'm too fussy with spirits anyway...
