Download some bootlegs or something

this has nothing to do with knowledge and/or skill

it has to do with not spreading inferior sound files WHEN the originals do exist; i.e. unless something was recorded originally in a lossy format, then it exists in WAV (or even better, 24-bit), which means there is no reason to fuck up the gene pool so to speak

I don't expect anyone here to understand or care though, so carry on being a bunch of ponces
OK so I kind of agree with you on this then, BUT I think the lossy and MUCH MORE PORTABLE format should be availible for those who want it for whatever reason... But true, the providers should first and foremost distribute the lossless media. The audiophile comment had nothing to do with this it turns out! Plus, who the fuck can actually hear a difference between a very high quality ogg/mp3/wma and a completely lossless file?

2 points:

1) when trading, ONLY the lossless or audio should be traded; if someone wants to convert to MP3 or whatever for their iPod or whatever, go right ahead, but don't fucking spread the damned lossy files

2) again, it doesn't matter if someone can hear the difference or not, it's simply about not fucking up a "clean" lineage

personal use, do what you want
