Can anyone tell me how to make the conductor track follow the tempo of an imported midi track? i did the tracking in pro tools and i cant figure out how to get DP to follow these tempo changes without having to plug them all in manually. this is probably a stupid question but i couldnt find it in the manual. plus i hate manuals.

thanks

It should have imported with the tempo basically "branded" into it. Otherwise I have no clue. I'm sure James Murphy or Kazrog could help, they are DP freaks, I've only recently made the switch to it from PT a couple of months ago. Sorry :(

yea i thought that would do the trick too but i guess not. unless im doing it wrong. ive had DP for a while i just suck at it because i use it the least usually using logic and pro tools. i want to start using DP more but its little things like this that usually stop me though im sure theres a simple answer.

You need to make sure that your PT session has the tempo established at the first measure as a tempo change. Then you should just be able to drag and drop the MIDI straight on to DP's conductor track and it should instantly adjust the song accordingly.

If that doesn't work, drag the midi file from the Finder into the chunks window, this will create a new sequence with just your midi file, then copy the content of this sequence's conductor track into your other sequence's conductor (the one with the audio).

All these years and I didn't know that. I've been using Performer since the days when it just did MIDI and not digital audio. :notworthy

sorry to hi-jack the thread, but i've never been able to do this in PT either, which is why i always used cubase to track guitars instead.

its easy in pro tools, just create a midi track in cubase, sometimes you need to put a single not in,and export as a midi file. then when you import midi file into pro tools, select import tempo.
