Drake "Over" cover! What do you think?

i'm don't really support bands doing metal covers of rap songs,
cause they almost always come out as a joke kind of track so i don't take them that seriously
but about the mix, it's sounding good, except maybe for the cymbals, sounding really thin
haha this song sounds like a mudvayne meets attack attack thing.

CLIPPINGGGGG... Im not sure whats clipping probably the master fader... Mix to -6db's and you shouldnt have this problem... Watch for any red in plugins and it should be fixable... The levels of everything sound ok and i like the track just fix the clipping... Should be golden

I actually don't hear any clipping, except for when the bass drop in the "when everything is over" part happens, but none of the tracks are clipping, master track isn't clipping, I have Ozone compression on the master track. The Input on Ozone is clipping, but the output isn't.

Could the input clipping be causing it? I thought input clipping would be fixed by the compression.

add some high end to the snare, and take away some of the reverb. Kick can come up as well with some more attack.

Reverb on what?

Take away some reverb as in, lower it? Or shorten the length of it?

Kick's attack is as low as it will go I believe.

Its still clipping or something is resonating really weird in that guitar tone at the beginning... NEVER have a fader clipping in pre or post fader metering... Bring the kick up some snare up some CRANK SOME verb on the snare and youll get like a Parkway Driveish snare which i think will suit this rap feel... Guitars sound good just that clipping at the very beginning either you are using compression incorrectly or something is clipping... But other than those few things i really dig this jam...

Put all the reverbs in a sidechain as well not right on the track...

I've tried over and over again, but I just can't get that "clipping" in the beginning guitars to go away. Even when there's no compression / maximizer / limiter. I must of recorded it clipped, but I don't see how...

Well, I listened to the guitar tracks clean, and there's some static / popping in a few spots, so that's probably what that is.

Pre-fader meter went up to +9.01 though, so that's another problem.

Much better but still there its nearly impossible to fix a clip that was tracked into the guitar... Sounds TONS better though... theres still clipping somewhere are you using GClip or some kinda saturater??

No, I'm not using anything like that. I could just re-record the guitar, but I'm not too worried about it since the clip is already on MySpace and YouTube.

Future songs I do will be recorded even better and I'll put more time into them, I just used a previous template to record this cover quickly.

I'll post a clip of a new song here in a couple days or so, and see if that one sounds better.'

Thanks everyone for helping out.

Yea watch your pre fader level's when tracking and keep it at about -6db's should keep that from happening...
