Dream Theater in San Francisco!- July 28th

in San Francisco? I actually don't like that place after seeing G3 there. No food, no drink...To bad it wasn't at the Fillmore or somewhere in the city...

Yeah, i'm with bear on this one. I'll still go, but it's a shame it's not at a place that sells beer & food. But, this place does have a great stage and sound.

I just remember almost dying from heat stroke when I saw Tool and King Crimson there in the middle of summer a few years ago... It was fricken hot in there!!

Actually-- it is significantly bigger than the Warfield-- it holds 3500 people-- the upstairs balcony is pretty big as well-- Im going to have to smuggle my flask in to make this worthwhile!

So yeah The Warfield holds 2250, so the BCT holds 3500, so its like 35% bigger :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

They need to serve booze there and food..Oh shit I don't think it matter much, I have two friends bands that are on the bill, hmmmmm!!!

:kickass:

Dudes, it's simple math really:

3,500 ÷ 2,250 = ~1.55, therefore >55% larger occupancy, hence my "about 50% larger" comment.

I'm a wimp when it comes to heat... I felt like I was dying back in 2003 when Dream Theater / Queensrÿche / Fates Warning played outdoors in Sacramento at The Cove (Cal Expo fairgrounds). It was over a hundred degrees and we were all wilting!

This should be a great show though. Wow, 2007 is shaping up to be one of the best (if not the best) years for live prog rock/metal performances in Northern California - and you, David, and company, are in no small way responsible for much of that!

Well if it is 50% larger it doesn't seem that way to me, maybe its the balcony? The Warfield just seems huge, I guess its all about the greenbacks, in my opinion its a bad choice for a event like this to be held at...I am going to go to this show anyways but not because of Dream Theater, I have seen them 16 times and well I am pretty DTed out...I am going for Into Eternity & Redemption....

Into Eternity = :kickass: :kickass: :kickass:

I am looking forward to this show very much. First off I have only seen DT one other time live and am very stoked that I will be seeing them again in the near future. And Into Eternity is going to slay! So let me get this straight.....DT, Redemption, and IE one night.......followed by my personal all time favorites, SYMPHONY X! Wow! Gonna be sweet.

Anyone know who will be playing along with SX on the 29th?

I just bought my tickets! My wife and I, along with two good friends, will be in Row K, seats 51/53/55/57. My buddy from work and his wife will be in row P, seats 2/4.

I'd like to try to get a pre-show dinner gathering organized, so if anyone with ideas for a good place to get together near the venue, do tell! :)

Sweaty indeed!

I went to all three California shows -- San Diego and Universal City were the others.

The show at Universal City was the best in my opinion -- great room and great ventilation!

Universal Amphitheater or whatever they are calling it now (Gibson Amphitheater I think?) is one of my favorite venues. I've seen so many great shows there...
