Got this from Amamazon yesterday.

So far have only watched all of the bonus shit on disc 2, as well as the first few songs on the concert.

Songs I watched were:

* As I am
* This Dying Soul
* Beyond this life
* Hollow Years
* War Inside My Head/Test that stumped the mall
* Endless Sacrifice

I have to say that Beyond this life (all 20 minutes of it) was fucking awesome. The Frank Zappa jam towards the end is fuckin sick. And when they cut back into the Zappaish unison section of Beyond this life..... Fuck... Awesome!

My other stand out so far is Hollow Years. THE. BEST. VERSION. EVER! Petrucci gets a long extension for his guitar solo. Sounds so good.

The camera angles and shots are amazing. Best I have seen for a live DVD. When watching it, I couldnt believe how much bigger the band has gotten since their last DVD in 2000. The size of the stage, crowd, stage show, video screens etc.... They have really gone the next step and are into metallica territory. Incredible.

As for the bonus footage on disc 2. It is very professionally done and gives great insight. Of particular interest for the people here would be the part where they are discussing THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST and why they are playing that album. You also get to sit in with them while they rehearse Hallowed and some other songs from the album. Its pretty cool to see how they rearrange the songs and add the keyboards and shit.

Its pretty funny too. There is one part where John Petrucci is playing a guitar in a music shop. He has a hat on and is just casually dressed. He starts playing the riff of Pull me Under. Then an American guy walks over and says "Hey, is that Dream Theater you're playing". JP says "Yes, yes it is"... Then the yank says "Yeah, they rock!"... JP looks at the camera and laughs! haha

So I still have a fair bit of the concert to watch. Am hanging to hear Trial of Tears, Disappear, In the name of God, and especially Goodnight Kiss/Solitary Shell :rock:

20 minutes of Beyond This Life? That's slightly extended ;) Great song though, so that's ok - even better with Zappa :worship:

:lol: :lol:

I remember Mike's sister Sam talking about this time she was in a music shop and she'd just picked up a drum magazine which had Portnoy on the cover...some guy came over and said 'hey, that's Mike Portnoy! He's the best drummer in the world!'

Man...it sounds awesome. I think I'll have to cave and buy/order it today sometime :p

If you order from Amazon, you have to make sure that your DVD player is region free... But I may be stating the obvious

Wenda.... Beyond this life sounds great. I thought Petrucci's head would explode from playing so furiously! And Hollow Years... Jebus. Fuckin great!

The Train of Thought soungs sound pretty similar to the album versions as you'd expect seeing it was the first tour for the album... Havnt fucked with them too much yet.

Portnoy's vocals are actually pretty good. Much better than on LSFNY or the Transatlantic DVD. He sounds great on War Inside my head.

It's hilarious watching all the Japanese metal heads sound tough and screaming into the camera! haha. MP says at one stage "Its all about the Lock n Loll!" hahaha

Go get it all of you.

I have been looking forward to this for a while, I have really gotten into Dream Theater over the last 6 months. Train Of Thought is such an awesome album. It sounds like a great DVD, the only thing that annoyed me was that Honor Thy Father isn't in the set.

I will have to chase up a copy in the near future.

HTF is the only one from TOT that wasn't played. The others make up for it. I'm so pumped to watch it when I get home.

Do you have 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence yet Blitz Burger?
You're a cock if you don't. There a few songs from that album. Can't wait to hear Goodnight Kiss live :rock:

Don't have a cow man. haha

MP had to leave some songs out. The others make up for it. How cool is it to have Only a Matter of Time with James singing?! Havnt watched that one yet, and havnt mentioned it cause I forgot all about it. Looking forward to that one now :rock:

What do you think of 6 degrees? Were you justified in deciding not to buy it untill now, or do you rate it?

I love Disapear, Glass Prison, Goodnight Kiss, Solitary Shell, Misunderstood and Losing Time/Grand Finale. They are my faves, but there isnt a bad song on the album
