drum editing

So lately I've been going the non-midi route and actually recording real drums(well triggers + overheads but whatever)

My question for drum editing is, do you guys edit the hits RIGHT to the grid, or a little bit before, or a little bit after? (minute amounts of course) or do you change it per part (a fast part might be a tad before the grid, a laid back slow part maybe a touch after?)

I just listen to it without a click, and if it sounds right, it is. If its sounds bad I edit to the grid. A lot of times if I notice a section is consistently b4 or after the grid, i slide the whole part onto the grid, and fix the hits that r off.
