drum question

If he learns what each number represents on his kit then he should be able to pick up on patterns and learn the rhythms, so yes, he could learn from it, but he won't learn proper techniques from it.
 
^ yup that's the case, than he can use the normal staff for reading his patterns in GP, or any other soft.
personally i prefer cakewalk the older like pro audio 9 because its light and has proper staff roll view

real drummer must know how to read and write staff, it simply shows that he knows his thing.
(or any other musician :p )
