Hey dudes,

Well... I am fucking shattered. Just got back from this warehouse we hired to record drums in, and it was a very successful weekend. We had Friday-Monday to do it, but we had the bulk of it done by Saturday evening and did a few more things today. Fucking tiiiiiiiiirrrreeeedd!!

Here's a little snippet:

This is everything at zero, no mixing yet, and no processing or effects. All natural reverb.

Whoa, this is really good, snare and cymbals are great! Maybe the toms are behind in quality by liiiitle, but this is really good, you'll get wherever you want with processing this. Congrats! Did you use panels or something of that sort?

Think the toms are fine to be honest, they just need some extra processing to bring out the best of them. This is just a straight export from the DAW with nothing else done to them. Here's a little clip where you'll see how I did it:

Haha, fuck yeah, those mattresses - ghetto style! :)
I love how you was able to place the room mic that far :kickass:
No, toms are cool, I am just sayin' how it sounds to me. They are definitely more than usable ;)
Once again, killer result, wish I was able to mic a drum kit this way (I usually track in a fairly dead room, and it's cool, but there is no even a single 'r', let alone some audible reverb).

Cheers man. Yeah I was pretty wet for the reverb of the room, and the figure-8 pattern of the Rode K2 really helped bring out the lushness.

I actually had a few room mics going on:

K2 at the far back - middle of the warehouse basically. Capturing the front and back, but not much of the sides.
NT-4 closer to the kit, but still far away enough to be wet sounding - this was recorded to two tracks, a left and right, since the NT-4 is X/Y.
Sennheiser 609 or 906 (I forget) close up to the kit, capturing a general impression.
SM57 hanging from a light box about 10 feet above the kit.

The mixture of these sounds really cool.

You should have recorded a set of " Discount Furniture Warehouse " impulses while you had the chance... :loco:

Listening on speakers at work. Sounds great man..

:kickass:

Awesome. I used to work at a furniture warehouse and was gonna do this, but never got serious about it. It would be most radical of you to post samples of the kit.
