Drum replacement in Sonar?

Ok, I tried Cubase, I suck... But, I've read nothing but horror stories about Drumagog in Sonar. I'm not really happy with DFHS anymore. I cannot afford Directxer, or whatever. Is there an easier (read: free) way to get to use drum samples, like Slate samples or anyother kind in Sonar?
