For a novice user; what would you recommend for software for easily assembling midi files for basic practice and song writing?

I'm using S2.0 and Metal Foundry along with EZ Player Pro. It works fine for me but perhaps it's too advanced for some users.

A friend of mine wants something easier to use for writing and recording basic riffs.

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

well i don't think you will find anything more userfriendly as S2.0. It sounds great too.

i agree it sounds great (i LOVE the avatar kit)
maybe addictive drums may be the answer here?? uber user friendly and can sound kickass (if you replace the kicks lol)
there always seems to be good deals on addictive too lately if you have a look around online.... deffo give the demo a try ;)
