Dimmu Borgir released their latest album, "In Sorte Diaboli" the same day as DT released "Fiction." Is that a coincidence?

Also, amazon.com has a good deal where if you buy them together you get a cheaper price. Has anyone heard the new Dimmu yet?

Heard the new album. To be fair - I listened to the whole album once. I listened to some songs more than one run. The opener - known from that U-tube video - sounded cool, but fast gets thin and shallow. Same experience with the other Songs and each Dimmu Album since SBD. They have some cool sounding string-arrangements, also some riffs are good, but somehow they just don't manage to create interesting songs with depth. For me this is some shallow pop (not because of their commercial success).
However, I should listen to it maybe more often. The thing is that while the DT album immediately sounded like quality although impossible to grasp and appreciate at once, the Dimmu Album just annoyed me more than creating interest and I stopped trying to appreciate it. I will give it a second chance...

Yeah actually I haven't heard the Dimmu album yet, I have to download it  :p .

It caught my interest because it's the first Dimmu concept album, and the song of the video that was released wasn't so bad so I might as well give it a try :) .

But I don't think there's any direct relation between the 2 bands anyway  (it'd be cool to hear Mikael signing with Mr.Simen though hehe  :kickass: ).

Is that a coincidence?

There is never a coincidence
only the appearance of a coincidence

As for both disc being released on the same day,
all new CDs, DVDs, books are always released on a Tuesday
so only 52 days are available for this release day, I'm sure some
media companies have more that 52 releases in a year
so this sort of thing will happen all the time -

Aye, haven't marduk and like, 17 other bands just released albums too? They need to get the albums out before they tour the summer festivals. Other wise they're just playing to be heard and attract people to their old shit. Much healthier to have a stormin new album behind you which gives new fans somewhere to start.

I did hear DT and Dimmu were going to possibly sort some shows together. *windmills* *mosh*

  • I have heard they might tour together, but it's hard to believe.
  • I will regard it as a coincidence.
  • Must hear new dimmu album.
  • Have to find out if I like it.
  • Death Cult Armageddon was good.
  • I don't like it when Dimmu makes those long repetitive songs.

Well, they could have been in a meeting with the label executives like:
-"So when's the release date again?
-June..
-No, no, no! We must release it the same day as Marduk's and DT's albums are released! then we might steal a share of sales from both fans of black stuff and fans of melodic stuff, mwahahaha!.
-Agreed harharhar!.
-I Concur, err mwhaha.. *clears throat*.
