Oh why did DT have to come to Paris on the 6th???! THAT'S THE SAME DAY FRIGGIN OPETH IS PLAYING ALREADY!!

We don't get a lot of really good metal bands playing here (well, we do get some actually, just not nearly enough ;) )...and those are two of my all time favorites...talk about a heartbreaker :(

I don't know about Opeth but I'd choose DT of course!:headbang:
and lots of ppl told me DT shows are really awesome, one of most tight and emotion-giving act in metal!;)

I haven't gone to many shows in my life, but DT and Opeth were two of the bands i saw. And they were both frigging awesome. Hard choice to make and bad choice from the promoters to put them on the same day.

My friend told me about it as well, but it seems that the Opeth date has been fixed for months were as the DT date is only weeks old.
It's really stupid, I mean there are many people out there who rank both bands high in their fav bands.
Arent promoters supposed to check who else is playing in the cities before they book the places and all? Seems like someone wasnt doing his job..

i think everyone in the Opeth forum will tell you Opeth is better. and everyone in this one will probably say DT is better. Which is of course, my take on it, but that's only because Opeth's so dull.

edit: so i'd go to the cheapest one. and the closest one. and maybe the one with better opening bands.

err...so actually I said friggin without the last 'g', which makes it...hmmm...even more stupid I guess

My problem is not whether Opeth is better than DT...those are two incredible bands. I've seen both of them live already, and they're great there too (each in their own way)

Opeth had the show booked for a while though, so seeing DT come the exact same day was a BIG letdown.
The metal crowd is not as big in Paris as in other parts of Europe, and I guess a lot of people have already bought their Opeth ticket, so there's a danger of DT not having as many people come see them as they deserve...hopefully the promoters will be more careful next time... :yell:

Frick some of you are frikkn' stupid frickkers. It angers me to no end to see people being so arrogant with their opinion on a band, when it is so god damn frikkn' ignorant and double frikkn' foolish. I frikkn' hate anyone who thinks (INSERT BAND NAME HERE) sucks. I have to, because they are lowly frikkn' life forms, and should be frikkn' exterminated -
Have a nice day :saint:

smells like an overreaction here.

no one in this whole thread mentioned the word "sucks"
in fact, most people have said that both bands are really good, which is the whole point of this thread

as for people being arrogant with their take on a band, i highly doubt opeth will care whether little old me finds their albums dull or not, especially when they have maaaaany dedicated fans and are a successful band with many albums out.

fact is, art is subjective, so there will always be someone who doesn't like someone's creation. and it's my right not to like something, as long as i'm not disrespectful about it. my friends like different music than i do, and they joke about how what i listen to sucks. i say the same about their stuff.
people like different things.
people are harsh with their criticisms.
no one get hurts.
deal with it.

 i don't usually say frigging, i don't know what got to me. :err:

but i do say freaking a lot. :dopey:

Do they play at exactly the same time? Can you try to see both? Or at least part of one and all of the other? If that's possible, my recommendation would be to see all of DT and what you can of Opeth. They are both great live-bands IMHO and if I were to list the three best concerts I've ever been to, both DT and Opeth would have at least one gig on that list.
