DUI thread

Nope! I've only driven (noticably) drunk once. It was on my way to work after a lot of drinking with dinner. I stopped for coffee and saw a guy I knew but was too out of it to really talk so he gave me a free coffee and I left and went to work, end of story!

Yea obviously, to late for such things now. I didn't even get pulled over, gayest part of the whole thing.

Question still stands.

In college I'm sure I did it a lot and I thank providence every day that I never harmed myself or someone else...

Once I went on a beer run at UNH and the next morning I woke up and had no idea why the interior of my car was so fucked up: turned out my way home I had apparently hit a patch of ice, skidded into someone's front lawn, driven through a couple of low hedges before I got back on the road.

Thinking about it now, I thank god I didn't kill some kid, luckily it was late at night.

Now I have a firm line, 2 beers, and no driving.

The trouble with drinkers is they are incapable of fully understanding how incapacitated they are.

It's actually really simple; no matter how drunk you are you are capable of a certain amount of logical thought. The logic goes like this:

1. Have I been drinking alcohol?
2. If the answer is yes, I do not drive.

End.

What about the cases where people don't even notice what they're doing and end up crashed in a field somewhere before they realize they got behind the wheel of a car?

btw: i'm never doing it again. didn't notice i was drunk anymore til i got in the car, and by then i just had to get to work! (this was a night shift)

Line up against wall, shoot in head

My fucking dope minivan broke down on the highway, and my cellphone ran out of batteries. So the police finally came after like 2 hours of me trying to flag down cars for help, and I got a OUI. Bah.

Look: there IS NO EXCUSE. Hide your car keys before you start drinking, give them to a friend with explicit instructions to never surrender them, do whatever the fuck you need to, but there is no excuse for driving drunk. Except if you REALLY HAVE TO (i.e. you're in the middle of the god damn forest and your friend gets deathly sick and you need to drive him to the hospital, which is 20 miles away)

if I knew I was going to be drinking, i'd make sure I didn't even have car keys on me. That way 0% chance of doing it. Not much is dumber than drunk driving (no offense tully, not sure why you were doing it anyway, might have had a "passable" reason).

Only thing I've had is a public drunkenness ticket. I went to sleep drunk on a buddy's couch. And woke up accross town face down in a field with some ambulance people asking me if I was ok. When I said 'yeah' the cops took me and I spent 5 hours in a cell (i was sober enough to avoid the drunk tank). They even gave me breakfast though they aren't supposed to. (because I was nice and polite and apologetic and had no clue how the hell I ended up from sleeping ot passed out in the baseball field).

^ Lizard, i do understand that this country has this .06 level of drunkness
and for a lot of people its "nothing" and they can prolly drive just fine,
but I'm talking in general..... you drink ?
don't fucking drive. PERIOD.
and I'm not talking about having a beer or two at 7pm when your body weight is over 150LBS, and you're going home 3 hours later....
I'm not that patty, but you know what I mean.

personally...I love to drink, (those of you who know me long enough know that) but if I drive: you'll see me sucking on Deer Park all night.

SERIOUSLY DUDES: I would like some information from somone who has actually gone through all this, sort of a big deal. I understand drinking and driving is bad.
