I've been neglecting my "what the fuck did they say?" duties.

"The goal always was to make it, if possible, 'big,' to turn SOM into a key player on nowadays metal scene." vs "despise the trends and all the changes"
"We always wanted Season of Mist to be opened, to explore new genres, to promote the bands to the best of our ability." vs "Underground Activists will be the total opposite. It's about the most Necro, the most anti commercial, the controversial bands that we like. Bands that wouldn't fit into the SOM roster."
Not that they're the only label to do this (Spine/Spikefarm), and obviously this is just a twisted-around "We're opening up a black metal sublabel" (bet future Mayhem releases won't be on it... hey, are they still even black metal?) announcement, but is he really implying that commercial music is where to find more open, experimental music? I would think former SOM bands like Oxiplegatz, Atrox, and Bethzaida fit "anti-commercial" quite well, while still being experimental.
I think in this case words simply escaped custody without first being inspected for quality.

Musical merit aside, there is one reliable test to know when a band has gotten so full of shit/themselves that you shouldn't bother with them anymore... when they isolate themselves from their listeners to the degree that you need a special magazine feature to ask one of these fuckers a question.

"...considered by many to be one of the modern death metal genre-defining albums..." I obviously missed a memo. The album's so great that a mere five years on, it needs a re-mastering "to bring it up to date." Shit'll now probably pop your speakers if you turn it all the way up to 1.

"I just think sometimes people are too serious with the whole idea." Presumably this means they're not serious at all. "What is true? Who's to say what is true?" Do they even know what they're doing? "True" doesn't just come in shades of Manowar and Mayhem. Fuckin' dork...

"ex-KITTIE bassist Talena Atfield, National Symphony violinist Marissa Regni and Duke Ellington Orchestra alum Gregory Charles Royal" ... Is it me or does one of these names just scream "HACK!!!!"

I know footage from the latest string of shows is out there, but holy shit, did Cynic really fucking decide to tour without their growly vocalist? Is Masvidal really doing a robot vocal duet with a backing track?

As for Cynic, I know people who attended the shows and said it was great. They had a contest going among the audience, the winner being allowed to growl with the band. Now THAT is stupid. The new song you can watch on your favorite video website is rather good I think. If they ever release another album, I guess the deathy side of the band will be neglected then.

With all respects to Kataklysm, they are a thrash band. I guess I can understand the 'death' label but yeah. Loved seeing them live. Lots of fun.

"And what do we do with traitors?" <audience reaction> "Well up on stage at least... we Let them Burn!!!"

hehe. It was great. Highly recommend you check out the band if you haven't.

As I said, they've clearly forgotten that Australia is a continent as well as a country.

Thus 'five' continents.

N America
S America
Europe
Asia
Australia
Africa
Antarctica.

What's missing from BG's list?

Indian subcontinent? Who gives a fuck? A typo by a PR dork is hardly newsworthy, unless you're Jay Leno.
