My drummer's considering picking this up.. I haven't heard of these, so I was wondering if anybody on the forum had a set like this/ever recorded or used this set?

He's more than likely going to pick up another bass drum along with it (matching)

If you guys are doing metal I'd go for a birch kit (drier, better attack), but that's just me. $549 isn't bad for a 7 piece kit though, and with fresh heads, good cymbals and proper tuning I'm sure you could make that kit sound pretty good.

See if he can get it cheaper without the snare (not sure if it's possible if they're only selling it as a 7 piece shell pack).

but maple will do brilliant in the studio

I've always read that birch kits are great studio kits. And my birch PDP kit definitely sounds awesome recorded. But I haven't known the woods of other kits I've recorded, so I can't say for certain if it's the wood.

They sound pretty decent, especially with better heads, but PDP's seem to fall apart pretty easily compared to other kits.

i've sold like 3 of these kits. and they sound ok. the toms are really great! i would recommend changing the kick and the snare drum heads right away, because the stock ones are crap.

it's a pretty decent kit for 7 pieces.

one of my friends used to have one of these sets, i thought it sounded really good live and im sure it would sound good in a studio setting. great quality for the price, and so many toms. tell him to do itttt
