eBay issues - paid but no response

I bought a 57 off ebay a few weeks ago.. the guy said on his page 'no paypal', so I clicked 'alternative payment' to pay for the item.

I then asked him why and he said he didn't have an account, eventually he created one and I paid thru PayPal direct to his account, because eBay didn't let me go back on my decision of 'alternative payment'. So it was just a money transaction between 2 Paypal accounts.

Now I'm getting no response from him :/ He's got 100% rep but not many so I'm hoping that he'll respond soon, but if he doesn't, what are my options? Can I really go through eBay seeing as I clicked on alternative payment? Hoping I haven't screwed myself out of $135 here.

You can make an dispute through paypal as long as its down for bought goods I think:

Nvm, the guy just replied (10 days after I paid..), so hopefully this'll get sorted out. Will re-bump this otherwise, thanks anyway.

Cos I live in Australia and that's how much they cost there. Buy them from a shop and its more like $170 -_-

to give $135 for a used one I prefer to give more $35 and buy a new one.

I just did this tonight. Paid for a profire 610, guy never got in touch with me. It's been a month and eBay gave me a full refund. I don't know if it wil work in your situation as you are in Australia and didn't really pay through eBay. GL.
